It's called "distro" it's so if one or more of the rars is corrupt you can go to a "fill" site and replace it, and it's compressed to save space. It is very very rare to find a corrupt rar within a torrent.

Someone please help me!!! I've been downloading here for a while and burning using convertxtodvd, my ps2 dvd player does not work playing recent movies such as sunshine cleaning and tomb raider 2 it gives me an error "tv system does not match", ive burned tons of movies such as the internationals, fired up, sex drive, all work well, same with tv shows such as breaking bad, simpsons, family guy..... can someone please tell me how to fix the format so i can avoid this problem in the future or a program that can tell me the avi's format maybe it needs some conversion???

RAR files are stupid now, when you download something, say a 10gb packaged torrent, you have 10gb of RARs and then you extract them, now you have used 20gb of your disc space for THE SAME THING.
Yes- deleting the RARs would be fine, but its not. these massive files fragment the shit out of your HDD's unless you actually securely remove them from your HDD, which would take a long ass time if you do it properly, (E.g. on OS X securely removing a 10gb group of files would probably take around 10-15 minutes.)
we just don't need rars, who the hell uses FAT32 these days anyway?

Lol @ rar comments. I never liked rar downloads but never publicly complained as it's free and if someone has gone through the trouble of uploading, I can go through the trouble unzipping the files. The reasons could be multiple of things.
Compression
Data Blocks
Security
Etc etc. Sure when you unzip it, it doubles the data amount on your comp, but if you don't have enough room, don't download it or find another torrent. It's as easy as that. I don't see how people think they have the right to complain how the files being torrented. It's pathetic. It's people like that who stop people from uploading.
On another note, AiTB only posts the torrent. He or She has nothing to do with the files themselves. It is not his or hers rip, they just upload the torrent through Pirate Bay for us to ENJOY!!!!

I don't think figuring out the rar's is the major problem. My complaint is the extra space required as was previously mentioned. I like to seed and give back to the community. When I am running low on space because I have duplicates of everything that was rar'd, I have to delete the rar'd file - taking 1 more seeder away. That is what most people that can't afford or don't have a hard drive that is in the terabytes.
So when people down load a rar'd file and delete it don't bitch about people not seeding.
I am greatful for the people who provide the torrents for us, rar'd or not. It seems to be a thankless job. Plus the pay sucks, lol.

1. RAR files come from newsgroups, thats what they have to use. There's no benefit to RARing a file.
2. If you dont RAR a file in the first place then you don't have to worry about a corrupt RAR file. Your comment about re-downloading pieces came directly out of you ass.

surrational.. you're a fucking retard, and 90% of what you said is wrong, especially considering .rar files. rar files are packed in store mode which does not change their filesize at all, just splits them into lots of annoying files.
anywho.. the reason for rars is as follows: way back in the day when the average bandwidth in the world was slower than molasses, torrents didnt exist, it was all about private ftp servers and newsgroups. and before torrents there was no way to verify data integrity, and it really sucked when you d/led a big ass file only for it to be corrupted. enter rar files, it did then what torrents do now automatically.
so, short answer, rars are an extremely outdated tool and should be banned from the scene, but the scene is retardedly slow to figure out anything, so.. yea.. there you go.
