Well they didn't get more episodes "approved". A season is usually between 16-24. 10-15 sometimes with comedy shows. Anything below that is a mini-series?!

They made a deal after the writer's strike during the last season to make the next two seasons shorter - that's when they decided to for sure to six seasons only.
