آيات شيطانية كتاب من تأليف الكاتب البريطاني من أصل هندي سلمان رشدي. صدر في لندن في 26 سبتمبر 1988 بعد 9 أيام من إصدار هذا الكتاب منعت الهند سلمان رشدي من دخول بلادها وتلقى دار النشر الذي طبع الكتاب الآلاف من رسائل التهديد والاتصالات التلفونية المطالبة بسحب الكتاب من دور بيع الكتب. قامت بنغلاديش و السودان و جنوب أفريقيا و كينيا و سريلانكا و تايلاند و جمهورية تنزانيا المتحدة و إندونيسيا وفنزويلا و سنغافورة بمنع الكتاب وخرجت مظاهرات تنديد بالكتاب في إسلام آباد و لندن و طهران و بومبي و دكا و اسطنبول و الخرطوم و نيويورك. حصلت خلال عمليات الاحتجاج هذه حادثتين لفتتا أنظار العالم وهي حادثة حرق أعداد كبيرة من الكتاب في برادفورد في المملكة المتحدة في 14 يناير 1989 والحادثة الثانية هي صدور فتوى من الخميني في 14 فبراير 1989 بتحليل دم سلمان رشدي وهاتان الحادثتان لفتتا نظر وسائل الأعلام الغربية بشدة The Satanic Verses is Salman Rushdie's fourth novel (Arabic) , first published in 1988 and inspired in part by the life of Muhammad. As with his previous books, Rushdie relied heavily on contemporary events and persons to create the characters in his book. The character of the chief protagonist of The Satanic Verses is based on that of the Indian film star Amitabh Bachchan. The title refers to what are known as the satanic verses, a group of apocryphal Qur'an verses that allowed for prayers of intercession to be made to three Pagan Meccan goddesses: Allat, Uzza, and Manat. thanks a lot XINA.. we should start sharing books on the internet,, the only way to properly communicate in arab countries.. let's have the struggle continuing, and in the end, we will win against oppression.. you just made me notice, this internet struggle is about copyrights in the west, but in our countries, it's about BASIC RIGHTS!! thanks again
