i think i know how to solve the problem of the crack. u need to copy and paste the crack in the c:programfiles/gamefile/sst folder idk wut the company who created the game is called lol. then replace the original sst icon with the crack. DONT PATCH UP! that will result in the ammo counter and all text in a weird coding. the mp servers are gone so dont worry about the patch.

'to make it work (well only on the first 2 levels properly) you need to go into your documents and settings and into the starship troopers folder, once inside then go into the settings folder and open the file in there. then edit the "distort" line from 1 to 0'
found that on a gamespot forum, apparently it has trouble with ati HD cards and some newer nvidia ones as well. plays fine on older graphics cards apparently. latest universal patch sounds like it does something similar.

had effect but still FAR from playable, I see space and silhouettes that are ships, then when inside and it starts, you still only see that out of a shape that must be a window. I have hope for the patch.

patch made it work, still flawed, but this time it looks playable. universal patch 5.0.2.4 or something. still using original exe and its not complaining. theres a crack on game copy world for that version, and it scanned clean with avira. If yours complains.

If you have an affected card, this will still only let you play first 2 levels. 3rd the ground is black and you only see the sky. I'm gonna find someone to complain to about it, but the company that made it got absorbed into another one. I may find a save file and check the other levels. This is a problem that both graphics card driver update or a game update could fix. I was enjoying it too (even though the screen went all blue every time I got hit)

Zoo games now have the rights to empire interactives properties, they say their gonna evaluate that catalogue and decide what they re-publish under zoo. Hopefully they include this title but the need to bring it up to spec. may put them off.....show interest.

To make the blackgrey screen dissapear and when u get attacked u wont see sh*T!
These are the settings you need change in the "global" setting file to make it all work fine! My Documents\Empire interactive\SST\Settings open up global.settings and these settings below:
PostProcessing: { "0" }
Distort: { "0" }
DisableSM2: { "0" }
Shader Quality (in the game options menu, at most) : MEDIUM
everything else in the "graphigs menu" can be set to any thing u want as long u change these things in the "global" file! =)
Check out other posts in this forum but this one solved all of my problems
