It is a well known fact that Ghostbusters was one of the very few games that caused problems for mod-chip users AND soft-mod users.
The game does crash at the first white safety screen.
What worked for me was to change my WII SETTINGS> TV TYPE to 4:3 NORMAL instead of 16:9 WIDESCREEN and then the game loaded for me fine! On some other Wii's i found i had to have it on 16:9 WIDESCREEN not 4:3 NORMAL. Try changing all the TV settings within the wii system menu. Strangely 9/10 it will play correctly then. I ran it from disc (DVD-R) each time.
