I think you will find there was no HD back in the Vietnam War, I can't imagine how you turn normal def into HD if it wasnt filmed with HD equip? May be wrong but I think it needs to be filmed with an HD camera.

Actually, Im prob wrong because you wouldnt call it Vietnam in HD if it wasnt.... didnt realize the actual name of the show is that, thought the torrent was called that only. So I guess it should be avail in HD somewhere?

I'm not an expert in filmography or anything but in WWII in HD they explain that all of these films are not HD, but they do happen to be in color.
What they do to make them 'HD' (It's not really HD) is that these films were found on film tape, hence you need a projector to watch them, so they project these films onto a large screen and then they film that projector with a more sophisticated HD camera and that's how they transfer it onto Blu-Ray.
The reason they film the projected screen is because with a projector you can upscale the resolution of the film without making it look too shitty as opposed to up-scaling the film digitally.
