Okay pussies, here's what you have to know:
The "Crack" you need is a patch published by Acclaim and distributed in a lot of places (1.1 12/07) that removes CD checking.
To make the game playable on Windows Vista and 7, go to rv12.zackattackgames.com and download that big fat link for the community-mad 1.2 beta on the download page.
If the game still crashes, try using the latest alpha -- you'll need it for some custom content anyway, and the site advises against going to alpha first.
Set track editor compatibility to Windows 98/ME while you're at it, if you wish to use the crappy stock editor tools that came with the game.
