You can also turn subs on/off with Haali Media Splitter (recommended by Matroska for .mkv files) and/or FFDShow (DirectVobSub).If you use Codecs & Filters, you can control subs in any media player that uses Codecs (NOT Vlc...Vlc doesn't use Codecs - it has it's own resident filters).
Google "Matroska" and go to their home page for best info on playing .mkv files.
