hey i'm a little new to this converting dvd to avi or mp4, dose any one have any suggestions as to how you go about extracting data from a dvd and converting the data? any help would greatly be appreciated.

As far as viewing straight AVI file. Subtitles, I just use VLC and disabled subtitle Track 1 under Video tab.
