Hey Folks, Being that I have not been able to find a working torrent anywhere for a mac version of SketchUp Pro 8, I thought I'd upload what has worked for me, via trawling the web for a solution. Included in the torrent is: - SketchUp Pro 8.0 (downloaded May 2011) - Cracks for Sketchup, LayOut & Style_builder - Instructions Difficulty - moderate - you will need to lock some hidden files and replace some others. If you are an early Leecher, please be patient, my upload speed is dismal and intermittent, but I promise to keep it seeded with your help! Please also leave feedback if it works (or doesn't) for you.

Installs only worked for me after changing the execute permissions for each of the 3 files copied from the Cracks folder. Run Terminal and type 'sudo chmod a+x ', enter your admin password when prompted.
e.g. sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google\ SketchUp\ 8/SketchUp.app/Contents/MacOS/SketchUp
Also I had to run Sketchup a couple of times and do some stuff in it before it would generate the hidden trial preference that needs to be locked.

Hey beestrip, thanks for doing this, been looking for this torrent for a while.
I am following your instructions, after copying the cracks (step 3 & 4) I tried opening sketchup (step 5) and it doesnt seem to be opening at all. Any advice?

I wasn't able to get it working. I followed your directions step by step. The 3 files that need to be replaced aren't being executed. They just show as a blank document and do not start up in the terminal. Any suggestions?

Hey, Ive Tried The torrent (thanks for uploading it) however after replacing the original files with the files from the crack folder, sketchup will not open at all.....
Ive tried it a few times and had the same result... Could anyone Help me with this please?/has anyone had the same problem....?? im really desperate.....thanks

I followed you instructions and I finally got Style Builder and LayOut working properly as far as I know, but SketchUp still seems incomplete. Got the boolean tools working, but SketchUp still cant export or import all the files it should.
What else did you do inside or outside SU to make it work properly?
And, is it safe to update LayOut and StyleBuilder?

Hey BeeStripe! I've installed all three of the SketchUp programs as described and ran the directions that quentin_crisp described but these hidden files don't seem to be appearing anywhere. Is it safe to connect back to the internet until these show up and them lock them? All the programs appear to currently be fully functional!!! Thanks

Sketchup Pro 8 - Mac OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion
Just Got it to work with the Following Modifications for Mountain Lion.
1- Close ALL APPLICATIONS and GO OFFLINE.
2- Open GoogleSketchUpProMEN.DMG and Install.
3- After Installed DO NOT Open.
A- Goto HD / Applications / Google Sketchup 8 / SketchUp
B- Right-click Sketchup and select - Show Package Contents
C- Goto Contents / MacOS /
D- Replace the SketchUp file with Sketchup from the Cracks Folder
4- Do the same procedure on both LayOut and Style_Builder
5- Still OFFLINE, open Sketchup (keep a note of the exact Time you opened it.)
A- Goto SketchUp: Preferences > General and UNCHECK Automatically Check for Updates.

6- Quit Sketchup
Sketchup will have now created hidden files for which it depends on for the Trial to Expire.
For the following you will need to show hidden files in Finder.
*To enable the Finder to show all files (including "hidden" ones), you can type the following command in at the command prompt in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES; killall -HUP Finder
The first part sets a hidden preference so the finder shows all files; the second part restarts the Finder so these preferences take effect (killall on its own tells a program to quit; the -HUP flag asks the program to restart).
If you want to reverse this so that the Finder now hides the files it normally hides, type this in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO; killall -HUP Finder
7- With hidden files shown in Finder:
A- Goto: HD > Library > Application Support >

In Finder, order the files column by Date Modified, you should find a hidden file looking something like this .DS_Store
It may have a different variation of lettering but if it was Modified the same time you ran Sketchup then that's the file you want to Lock.
(Select the file, Press Command-I, and Check the Lock Box)
It may also be Greyed out and you cannot Check it. Should be ok.

B- Goto: HD > (your username) >
Here again you should find another hidden file looking like .DS_Store.

Making sure it was created the same time you opened Sketchup, lock this one also.
8- Extra precautions, it's been suggested to Lock:

A- Goto: HD > (your username) > Library > Preferences > com.google.sketchuppro8.plist
This will also lock ALL your preset options within Sketchup. I'm not sure this is necessary.
B- Goto: HD > (your username) > Library > Caches > com.google.sketchuppro8 > Cache.db
9- And It wouldn't hurt either to un-tick 'Check For Updates' in LayOut and Style_Builder
10- Run Terminal and Type for Each Program:
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp.app/Contents/MacOS/SketchUp
enter your admin password when prompted.
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp 8/LayOut.app/Contents/MacOS/LayOut
enter your admin password when prompted.
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp

enter your admin password when prompted.
11- It wouldn't hurt to use LittleSnitch to block its outgoing activity.
12- If Prompted For Serial Info Try The Windows Serials Below On The Mac Version.

@beestripe I am pretty confused, I have switched the three files however sketch up will not open, I have tried to follow the instructions in regards to using the terminal but that does not help either!! What happen once I type the commands into the terminal? it says "no such file or directory"

Don't waste your time with this torrent, Just download the trial version from Trimble and disable network connection using Mac OS X firewall.
Download timed trial of Sketchup Pro 8
Install trial but do not open
Block network access using OS X firewall for the three components
Open Sketchup and choose template, there should be 4.00 hours of trial time
Quit application and re-open, the software should say it is licensed now

I just installed it and it worked very well, all you need to do for it to open is
1) Open Terminal: Applications > Utilities > Terminal
2) Write the commands quentin_crisp published just like this:
sudo chmod a+x (Enter)
Admin password (Enter)
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp.app/Contents/MacOS/SketchUp
!!THIS WILL ONLY WORK FOR YOU TO OPEN SKETCHUP!!
For enable opening of LayOut and Style_Builder just type this commands under the Sketchup one:
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp 8/LayOut.app/Contents/MacOS/LayOut (Enter)
sudo chmod a+x /Applications/Google SketchUp (Enter)
Hope it works, i just explained it a little bit more..

Tried 3 times to follow Control_Transmission's process on OSX 10.8.5 Mountain Lion.
At step 5- (... open Sketchup...) it will not open. Anyone that has successfully used CT's method for OSX 10.8 and beyond??
