Trama: ------ In un ospedale di Los Angeles, nei primi anni del Novecento (si presume), nasce un’amicizia tra Alexandria (una bambina con un braccio rotto) ed uno stuntman di nome Roy, costretto a letto per un lungo periodo di degenza. L'uomo inizia a raccontare una storia di amore e vendetta che riflette il suo stato d’animo, particolarmente precario in un momento delicato della sua vita e della sua carriera (la vera caduta a cui si riferisce il titolo, in realtà, è proprio la sua). Il racconto che inventa è la storia di un gruppo di giustizieri che cercano di vendicarsi dei torti subiti dal governatore Odius e Roy, nella narrazione, attribuisce a tutti i suoi personaggi il volto di dottori, infermieri e pazienti: lui stesso è il Giustiziere Mascherato e Alexandria è sua figlia, che gli salverà la vita in molte occasioni.
