For all of you who have downloaded this version and found the serial to be useless, don't despair. With some work, you too could be playing this game very soon.
First, download and install the Russian version available on this fine site. Installation instructions are mentioned in the comments section.
Check to see if this install will let you fly the heli. If you've followed the instructions, you now already have a very nice Russian sim with English menus. But I don't have time to learn Russian, so after this we'll be cheating.
Install the English version that came from this very nice torrent in a seperate folder and notice how beautifully it all works up until the Starforce check.
Move following folders in the Russian install to a backup location or just delete them: BlackShark, Config, Doc, FUI, all those maps starting with lua..., Missions, Movies and Sounds.
Now take these same folders from your English install, and move them to your Russian install.
Run your Russian executable, and look at all that nice English mysteriously appearing everywhere.
Enjoy your superb flight sim with 99.9% English text and sound, and the extra campaign. (Found two words Russian remaining in some config menu, won't bother you at all). Don't try to crash too much.

Small addendum
The previous tutorial seems to give a 100% working game. However, the Scripts folder should not be changed from the Russian version, as it gave some very weird results ingame, including not being able to exit pause mode. Likewise, Bazar folder seems to only contain graphical assets, and can thus probably be ignored.
I can not guarantee some files in these two folders might not be necessary at some point in the campaign or in some other rare situation. I'm still trying very hard to keep my bird in the air, so I haven't been able to check every possible function and scenario this game has to offer.
This method is a very ad-hoc solution, and might no longer be possible after patching. Use at your own risk, blablabla... If you like the game, please go buy it and support the flight sim market. I've only played it for about 30 minutes and I'm already scrounging for money to do so. Flight sims are rare, don't help make them extinct. And now, back to your regularly scheduled broadcasting. Enjoy!!

Sorry my bad english.
This is my process...
1. install English BS Version
2. Copy [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] Folder
3. uninstall English BS Version
4. install Russian BS
5. Backup [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] Folder in Russian BS
6. If you have no english in mane screen, rename ru folder to ru1 folder in [l10n] folder
7. remove starforce in [root\\bin\stable] folder
8. follow instruction antistarforce in original russian BS DVD
If you want to change voice, I think you have to change sound folder.
** don't forget , backup original folder **

Ironically, they lost more sales by using Starforce than from piracy...
I have decided NOT to purchase this awesome flight sim... it's just not worth it. Starforce already killed a DVD-RW, and forced my GF's drive into PIO mode permanently. Starforce lies, and doesn't care about who it hurts. They even set up fake websites to "debunk" the Starfoece damage "myth"... right on their own servers. LAME.
I'm really disappointed. I'm tired of sticking up for these assholes just because they are the leaders in a dying niche market. Fuck it... if they are going to force-feed us Starforce and limited activations (?!) they can suck my dick.

There is certainly a crack, and it is fully playable. I switched to 64 bit OS so can't use the Starforce crack anymore, but was fine with that because I was only trying and buying. Now I know the downloadable English release is also Starforce (I thought SecuRom) and realize I'll never play this again.
People will pirate. Cracks will come out. Just treat your customers properly and you'll make plenty of money. We don't want to see ED die... that's just stupid.
I hope they switch to WIBU Codemeter or something reliable. It's annoying, but they can be mailed/packaged in box and are virtually uncrackable. I just DO NOT trust Starforce anymore after what I went through. I was unaware of its reputation at the time, but looking back, it makes sense. 2 PCs lost their drives from playing Splinter Cell, and I experienced random sudden reboots which unnerved me, because that is BAD for your system, period.
I hope they stop sucking up to Starforce, because Starforce cares only for itself. It lies, and poses as third party organizations in order to lure customers in. Starforce RUINED what is the best simulator in history. It's depressing.

I used antistarforce crack in russian dvd, not updated antistarforce crack.
when I used updated antistarforce crack, BS freezed in cockpit.
every thing english in BS, except weather generator.
just follow instruction I wrote before.
DO NOT play original English BS.
you need to install russian BS, and copy folders to russian BS.
just play russian BS as you did.

Here it is:
I used d1007's suggestion.It works.I even installed the english version sound map into the russian version.Only at the training section its russian.Gonne figure out how to change that.
After you installed all , mount the image again with Daemon Tools, and run the game.After that you can unmount the image.Otherwise it can be possible the game asks for the cd key again.
So my 50 cents:
1.Install the english version first.Run the exe.
2.Make a copy of the following folders: [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds], put them somewhere on your desktop.Easy to find again.
3.Uninstall English BS Version
4.-Install Daemon Tools 4.3.1 Lite ONLY THIS VERSION.
-Right click on Daemon tools in the lower right, click on RPMS, daemon tools icon now changes from Red To green.
-Install the Russian version.
-Mount the image, and this Autorun, install the game. Done... Fine...
-Copy the backupped Folders from your desktop into e.g.: C:\\Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\
-Overwrite existing folders
-Go to "C:\Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable" click on the icon named protect, shape of a key on it, put a check in the box for Remove driver, and hit ok... a prompt in russian comes up, select the first button "??" which means "yes" you want to remove the driver... Done... fine...
-Create a folder and unzip your star force zip file into a new folder.... so it's unzipped, wich it needs to be.. remember where this folder is, you will need to go into it and select .dev000 file when the time comes.
-Install the SF driver by these steps, not hard.... go to (Add New Hardware ---> Next ---> Yes, the device is already connected ---> Next ---> Come on in the bottom of the list, and choose the "Add a new device "---> Next ---> Installation of equipment from the list manually ---> Next ---> See all ---> Next ---> Have Disk -> Next ---> Add file dev000.inf.
Now that it's added, go into device mananger, system drivers, so see if it's there, it's will be "Fstarforce" driver, listed with all your other drivers, that's if you want to check.
RESTART THE PC AFTER THE SF DRIVER IS INSTALLED....
-When you get back to your desktop, UNMOUNT THE IMAGE , and mount the image once more.It should run the game.
-After that you van unmount the game and click the desktop icons to run the game.
For english menu's, key commands and options, do this...
rename this directory
Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\l10n\ru to ru1
I used these steps, and even the multiplayer function works.
Hopelfully this helps.

jhonybravo, there is no 64 bit version of the starforce crack, and probably never will be... but who knows?
You're SOL in that department. Either buy the game, or dual-boot a 32 bit OS.

yeha, there is no antistarfoce for 64bit OS.
and you can find protect.exe in [%rootdir%Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable] directory.
click that file, you will get menu screen with activate starforce or remove starforce drive.
click remove starforce drive and add system device in control panel.
follow Emmer955's instruction above.
additioally, before add new device, click classic view in control panel (it will be upper-left control panel window)
I checked encropedia, briefing, debrifing, campign, menu in english. not checked traning mission.
I think no needed english in cockpit panel and sound for reality.
That's your choice.

Why its asking for the cd key ? I think u have to unmount the image once restarted after installing the SF driver.And check if the SF driver is indeed in the Device Manager.
The mount the image again and start the game.
It should work.At least fore it did.I also forgot to unmount the image first, and it was asking for cd key again.
Further its a question of trial and error i guess.......good luck.

I solved problem with weather generation in russian language.
You need files in english BS.
path is \Ka-50\bin\stable
from lua.exe to lua-*.dlls and these files need to copt & paste.
just copy from eglish BS to paste to russian BS
you'll get full english in weather generation window.
I have no problem with it so far.

sorry for my bad english.
I ment starforce installed when the game installed.
and you can remove by click [protect.exe] file in K-50\bin\stable folder.
after you do that, you have to install antistarfoce drive into your system by adding system divice.
when you finish all thing, you can play BS by mounting image file(*.mds file).
after mounting image file, some menu pop up(autorun screen), and you have to click button (maybe first on the upper left button) in the autorun screen.
and then game start and so on...
I'm afraid I could't explain any more, but you will find a way. good luck.

I now use XP 32bit, but I used russian BS in Vista 32.
Check out device manager in control panel.
In device manager, check system device(maybe system device in english).
If you can see "FStarForce" into system device, you get every thing you need.
first check system device(FStarForce), second check Daemon version, third mount *.mds image file.

Well I got everything installed but whenever I try to load the first training mission it goes back to desktop and ask for a key. If I close the cdkey window I can go back but it still doesn't work.

I have no problem with DVD-RW ROM and Virtual CD-ROM.

english version constantly asks cd-key.

instructior's language on my upper right screen is english.
my russian BS presents FULL english language except cockpit, wingman speech, another speech.
I did experiments with english BS, (especially graphic quality) you can copy and paste [effect , graphic, terrain folder] in bazar folder.
no crash appears.

eventually, I got Full instructior's english speech and literation(i'm not sure this expression is correct).
if you want to wingman's english speech, maybe copy and paste [sound] folder to russian's.
I have failed that way.

Hey all guy here. If you want to play in Eng just copy the Black Shark + Missions + Sound from ENG version into Rus version. Then all option run smoothly in English. All the missions + trainning + campaign now in Eng. Now we can run a combine version. LOL

Ok here's the link:
The download link is on the left with red letters you can't miss it. Before you install it you should make sure you remove the older one already installed. In device manager you should see fstarforce in the list of system drivers. Right click and select uninstall.
If you don't remember how to install fstarforce. It's well explained step-by-step on the russian site.

When done installing you should reboot then mount the image if necessary.

okay so for those of you who currently have the game working "correctly". I'd like to ask a question.
When you select missions,training or any other mode does the game send you back to desktop for a little while before loading ? That's whats happening here ?
At first I thought it wasn't working at all but if I wait long enought the loading screen will pop up eventually and then it's all working fine.

Except, my BS doesn't load at all, it freezes when opening, but I can still hear the music playing.

well im still getting the cd key crap....
ok this is what im doing.
1-install english
2-grab folder from english [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds]
3-unistall english
4-install russian
5-paste the english folder ([Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds] in to the russian.
6-goto bin and click on protect and then unistall driver.
7-restart the pc
8-goto control panel and add hardware-->do the things to install the Starforce.
9-make sure starforce is installed by looking at the Device Manager.
10- Restart pc
11-mount up the russian cd image again.
12-click on the first button on the main screen
13-the CD key comes up
14-try to kill myself...I CANT EVEN DO THAT RIGHT!!!!

Reverse the process. First make sure you get the Russian version working first. Then install the English version under a different directory and remove the needed files from the English version into the Russian Version. Important.... Get The Russian Version Working Before You Install The English Version.

5-paste the english folder ([Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds] in to the russian.
6-goto bin and click on protect and then unistall driver.
7-restart the pc
8-goto control panel and add hardware-->do the things to install the Starforce.
9-make sure starforce is installed by looking at the Device Manager.
10- Restart pc
11-mount up the russian cd image again.
1-install english
2-grab folder from english [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds]

maybe you need to delete english BS registry remaining your system.

run -> enter "regedit"
regietry editor pops up
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software -> delete [Eagle Dynamics]

one question. i was able to install the starforce from a different folder...but does dev000.inf and FStarfore.sys have to be in the /Bin folder of the game directory?

FStarforce is located in system, not bin folder.
I think original SF in game is removed by clicking remove drive with protect.exe in bin folder.
now I got "[Locale: rw RW] -> [Locale: en EN]" with my russian BS, after copy & paste lua things.
I launch the game with autorun(not icon thing) mounting image file.
I have no problem so far.
I used to launch the game, and the game crashed often, now I always launch the game with mounting mds image.
You'd better launch with the image.

After u removed the driver from protect.exe u dont need to restart pc.Also at point 7.Skip that.
Then u install SF driver, see if it is in device manager and the restart pc.No need to restart pc twice.

To get the trainings in English:
After you copied the Missions folder from the english version, go to Missions\Training.
You will see several tracks, one set named as lesson_nn.trk (where nn is a number from 01 to 22) and one set named as lesson_nn_eng.trk.
Inside it, create a new folder (optional if you don't care about backups.
Move the lesson_nn.trk files to that folder.
Rename lesson_nn_eng.trk to lesson_nn.trk using the same corresponding number (i.e. lesson_01.trk to lesson_01_eng.trk, lesson_02.trk to lesson_02_eng.trk, etc.).
You should have the trainings in english....

I tried everything posted here and its still asking for a damm key. Thanks to Nicolai who uploaded this really nice software, but the serial only works once, its worth buying it, but as a customer I will never do that because of the anticopy protection they have applied to this software, once the software is yours, is yours! and thats it.... why buying a serial if u need to reinstall a program you paid for?

For Vista, you need to deactivate UAC. Once you have it working, you can activate it again.
Also, to avoid problems, always mount the russian image with deamon tools lite before playing it.
BTW: The real Matt Wagner posted in his forum that it's not him posting here....

All the dual language problems could have been avoided if instead of copying the english folder on top of the russian ones, you rename the russian folders ( like "folder_name" to "_folder_name") first and then copying the english one so you don't have duplicate set of files.
To fix it.....
For the training menu:
1. Go to BlackShark\Data\Scripts\Training
2. You should have 2 files there:
TrainingData.lua and TrainingData_ru.lua
3. Rename the TrainingData_ru.lua to something else (like "_TrainingData_ru.lua") or make another folder inside that one and move it there) so only the english file is in the folder.
4. That's it, training missions menu should be in english.
For Enciclopedia:
1. Go to BlackShark\Data\Scripts\
2. You should have a folder for each different category of objects (helicopters, planes, etc.).
3. Inside each one of those folers you should see 2 sets of files, one in english "FileName.txt" and "FileName_ru.txt".
4. Rename (or move to another folder) all files ending in "_ru.txt". I prefer to create a sub-folder inside each folder, call it "bck" and move the file theres so in case I need them, I know they are one folder bellow where they should be, but that's up to you.
5. That's it. Enciclopedia should be in english.
If you want to get rid of Russian missions, go to the Mission folders and do the same to each name with "strange" characters (I believe they should be in russian but since we don't have the fonts we see them this way).

Glad to see most of you are modding the Russian version so I dont have to upload mine. Alot of the incompatability issues are due to renamed files 99% of files are compatible. I have DCS running completely in English with no Russian at all. Just becareful when you MOD the bin folder that's were alot of incopatabilites come from. Just to prove that it works here some SS for the non believers.

Agree PKM. Safe files to replace are Commo.dll, Cosmos.dll and lua*.dll. Almost everything in English except for cockpit labels (white labels). There's already a mod to turn the russian cockpit in english, that might be the safest way for some....

and russian version is included with VIDEO files called producer's note.
Those are maybe over 2G.
English version isn't included with those files.

and If you exchange [BAZAR] folers, you will find some different graphic effect in russian BS, especially flare effect.
I like flare effect in english BS. and I have no problem with exchaning BAZRA folders.

To convert Russian cockpit to English cockpit, just download file called bs_rus2english_pit.rar in lockonfils.com web site, and extract files to bazar\temptexture.
There's no way with copy & paste thing.

Nevermind. Reinstalling and then *deleting* (or renaming) the russian folders [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds] [Doc] before copying the english ones fixed it. Also had to rename [l10n]\ru (to ru1). Seems nothing inside bin needs to be replaced at all.
Only thing left is to get english version of cockpit

I found one problem with my previous instructions.
If you remove the file TrainingData_ru.lua and use TrainingData.lua to have the training missions menu (names/descriptions) in english, you don't need to rename the track files. Otherwise you will end up with a black screen when trying to fly one.
This is because TrainingData_ru.lua (Russian version) looks for the file lesson_nn.trk while TrainingData.lua (english version) looks for lesson_nn_eng.trk
So forget the instructions of renaming the track files. Just copy the english tracks (already done if you copied the whole missions folder) to the folder do the instrucionthe for the english lua file.
Sorry for the missunderstanding. I really don't have much time to play with it so I didn't realized until today.

MTFDarkEagle: In Vista you have to disable UAC before installing the game. Once it's running fine, you can enable it again. The following instructions it's what I did (I copied them form the Russian version post and modified it a little, so credit to original posters).
1. Disable UAC
2. Install deamon tools 4.3.1 Lite
3. Right click on Deamon tools in the lower right, click on RPMS, daemon tools icon now changes from Red To green.
4. Mount the image, and this Autorun, install the game. If you are using Vista, DO NOT install it to Program Files, use any other folder (like for example D:\Games\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\). Vista is very restrictive with the "Program Files" folder.
5. Go to [Install_Path]\bin\stable" click on the icon named protect, shape of a key on it,
put a check in the box for Remove driver, and hit ok (top button)... a prompt in Russian comes up, select the first button "??" which means "yes" you want to remove the driver...
6. Create a folder and unzip your star force zip file into a new folder.... so it's unzipped, which it needs to be. Remember where this folder is, you will need to go into it and select .dev000 file when the time comes.
7. install the SF driver by these steps, not hard....go to
Add New Hardware
---> Next
---> Yes, the device is already connected
---> Next
---> Come on in the bottom of the list, and choose the "Add a new device"
---> Next
---> Installation of equipment from the list manually
---> Next
---> See all
---> Next
---> Have Disk
-> Next
---> Add file dev000.inf.
8. Now that it's added, go into device manager, system drivers, so see if it's there, it's will be "Fstarforce" driver, listed with all your other drivers, that's if you want to check.
9. Important: RESTART THE PC AFTER THE SF DRIVER IS INSTALLED....
10. Navigated to [Install_Path]\l10n, renamed folder RU to RU1 to make main screen in English.
11. Load the image again with Daemon Tools.
12. Start the game.
13. Went to instant action
14. menu popped up, you will see 4 rows of blue "link" type question marks below where you would enter your key, selected the 3rd ??????? ? down. ?Do not ask again?.
15. THE ACTIVATION WINDOW DISAPEARS and the game start to initialize. After this, the tracks play, everything is good to go.
16. Exit the game.
17. Using RegEdit, Export the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Eagle Dynamics\BlackShark] and [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Eagle Dynamics\Black Shark].
18. Delete the Keys and rename the installed folder to something else (like D:\Games\_1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\)

19. Install English Version. DO NOT RUN IT.
20. Delete the new Registry Keys and Move the new installation to a separate folder (like D:\Games\bck\english\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\
21. Import the original Registry Keys.
22. Rename the original russian installation to it's previous name
in our example, from "D:\Games\_1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\" to "D:\Games\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\"
23. Rename the following folders [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds] (I always use "_" in front of them so I have them just where they are supposed to be: [_Blackshark] [_FUI] [_l10n] [_Missions] [_Sounds])
24. Copy (Do not move them, always keep the originals in case something goes wrong and you have to revert and try again) those folder from the English (backup) version to the Russian version.
25. To get the training menu in English:
a. Go to BlackShark\Data\Scripts\Training
b. You should have 2 files there:
TrainingData.lua and TrainingData_ru.lua
c. Rename the TrainingData_ru.lua to something else (like "_TrainingData_ru.lua") or make another folder inside that one and move it there) so only the English file is in the folder.
d. That's it, training missions menu should be in English.
26. For the Encyclopedia:
a. Go to BlackShark\Data\Scripts\Enc\
b. You should have a folder for each different category of objects (helicopters, planes, etc.).

MTFDarkEagle: I don't know what could have happened with the crash. There are too many things that can go wrong with Vista....
Have you disabled UAC and rebooted before starting the process? For how to disable UAC, there are a few ways to do it, you might want to google for it.
Try to uninstall it (if it's has been registered as installed), delete the current registry entries and whatever remains from the installation folder and start from scratch again.
Also, for better results, always DBL-Click what you want to run and select run as administrator.
As for the regedit, press the start button and on the search bar, type regedit. When the results show regedit.exe, right click on it and select run as administrator (should not be necesary running as admin but I always do just in case). Expand the HKEY_Current _User and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and look for the entries I mentioned. Right click on each one and select Export. Use an easy to identify name (like HKCU_BlackShark and HKLM_BlackShark so you know which one is which).
To Delete them (once exported) just select it and press delete or use the menu.
When you want to imprt the entries again just DBL-Clcik on them and select YES (or OK) to import them.
Since you don't want to mess anything, I suggest you do a Restore Point (All Programs, Accessories, System Tools) before you do anything.

I agree that the StarForce thing sucks, but if everyone pirates the Hell out of it, then they'll simply assume that even more would have - were it not for the damn StarForce. In other words - we're confirming what they thought in the first place.
I've got (a legit copy) running on a 60" screen, with the MFD's on two 19" secondary displays. It's goddamn incredible.
When it comes to Crysis and all the other mindless FPS crap - I say pirate the hell out of it.
But this, along with stuff like Mount and Blade, is made by a small company of dedicated enthusiasts. If we (flight sim enthusiasts in this case) can't support these sorts of companies, who will?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again- StarForce ruined this sim, and I will probably never buy it. ED basically said "fuck you" to its customers, and tried to force malware upon us all.

Maybe its just me,I'm having some problems.
I'm on xp,downloaded this torrent and it gives me 2 files,1 setup and one zipped.I run the setup file,it installs in english no problems.Where is the sf file that i need,is it the inf.?,where is this located. I see on these pages instructions to mount it into Deamon tools which I have,what am I suuppose to mount,there is no file that will mount?.I dont see any instructions for russian,even when i double click on the key in the protect folder,it does not give me an option to uninstall.Please some body give clear instructions how to get this going.Ive been downloading torrents for years and applying the cracks but these 8 pages makes no sense at all.
If we can start with the 2 files,ok I have ran the setup and it has installed in english,what do I do now.Many thanks.

The reason why this thread has 8 pages it's because so far this version (english download) hasn't been cracked and we discussed how to convert the russian version to english using this files.
If you read it from the start you will know that you have to download the russian version. Once you have it working, you will need this files to convert it to english.

@Thomas A Anderson,Just thought I'd post back that everything is now working after patching the russian version to english.It took a few installs of both but I put that down to the registry keys not being deleted of a previous attempt.Couldn't agree more I would have paid 150$ for this (without SF):).My oh my DCS have really done a grand job with this one,not to keen on russian copters,waiting for the Apache & A10 Addon from DCS,all they need now is a M1 tank mod and you may have the first virtual battlefield (tanks & copters)something Microprose tried years ago,but couldn't pull it off.
I just hope DCS rethink where SF is concerned for future addons,its clear it doesn't work,the only way to stop piracy is supply a usb dongle with the game like a well know but expensive tanks sim 150 $ I think.
BS is the best helo sim ive played without a doubt,nothing even comes close.Yeah i'm playing a pirate copy and I do feel bad for doing so,I would buy this sim at the drop of a hat if it wasn't for SF.

I agree, this is one of the finest Combat-Flight-Sim made so far. I also prefer the Apache (Not saying one is better than the other, just my personal choice) but due to BS, I'm liking it more and more.
I also feel BAD (very) about playing a pirated copy but the blame is theirs for us having to do it. "I blame this world for making a good man evil"...
If the english retail version has the same SF version as the Russian, I might buy it and remove it.

@asparagin: It might work. I haven't tried it but I believe it's basically the same (I only made the instructions to install the Russian version first so you make sure it's really working).
The Folders in my post are the safest to replace. You might play with other folders (like the Bazar) but I suggest you back it fisrt because some files are not 100% compatible (i.e. some cockpit files).
As of the english cockpit option? No, there's no option in the game to change it in the Russian version. You need to mod it.

I would suggest do what Thomas has instructed,install Russian version first and make sure you can play the game,then start patching.It may look confusing at first.Don't rush things.If youv'e already had a try at installing/patching but failed,it may be necessary to delete some old Registry entries left from previous attempts (this happened to me)......Its well worth the fanny on to get it going......Off to buy a X52 joystick and throttle today:)Have fun peeps hope you get it going:)

Thanks to everyone that has been helping with the translation so far. I have followed Thomas_A_Anderson's instructions and almost everything is now in english. Except for the pause menu in the sim engine. And the radio menu that comes up when you push \. If anyone knows what I have missed that would be awesome :)

I followed Mr. Anderson's instructions to the letter. The thing is that when I'm being asked for the key, instead of the 4 rows of blue "link" type question marks i get a window with 4 buttons on the right. The 3rd (if I remember correctly) brings me to a new window with 3 buttons, one of them finally brings me to the 4 rows of question marks. I click on the 3rd row and it asks me for the key again, so we're back to square one. If I ignore that and open the game, everything works fine: options, encyclopaedia, mission editor etc except for the actual flying business. Trying to start a mission or campaign stops the game.
Anyone else having this problem?

I've tried your method for 3 days with no avail. Is it possible that daemon lite 4.30.3 is the reason? no matter how much i will it to run, another security dialog pops up after i click on the third row of question marks. I've nearly given up on starforce. any last ideas?

Are you setting DT Emulation to RMPS and "All Options" (all toehr settings OFF)?
Are you mounting the image before playing it?
Did you ran the "Protect" progam amd installed the Anti-SF Driver?
Remember: If using Vista:
1) DO NOT install it under "C:\Progam Files".
2) Disable UAC until it's finally runnning.

No it's not DT because also tried on 4.3.1 and still doesn't work. Yes, only RMPS is on. I ran protect and uninstalled SF drivers. Then i put the AF drivers on. I restarted many times. Still get dialogs asking for serial # and stuff.
I'm running on XP SP3, so i can't see why nothing is working. I have no clue. I WAS able to get my menus in english, but nothing as far as in game flying :(

AHA! Nevermind! As a last resort, I burned it onto a DVD like some other said using RMPS with Alcohol 120%, reinstalled it from the disk, did the rest of the stuff, and got rid of all my virtual drives. Runs fine from the disk now! I'll check on here later in case anyone might need help with my method.

@riboyster : I'm sorry, I have no idea what might be going wrong. IMHO it's either the buttons you are pressing or you might have a point in FC (which I don't have) being the cause because it also uses SF.
@synchronus49: You are wrong. IT (the Russian version) DOES work without using a CD Key...It took me less than 10 minutes to got it working. It took me longer to mod it to english but with the folders I pointed you can get it moded in a few minutes...
fingers007_uk had problems in the beginning and he got it working too.

Sure thing. Well, after days of being frustrated by FagForce, I had been looking through the last several weeks of comments for both this torrent and the Russian one. I forgot who it was, but someone noted that they weren't able to run it with only the virtual drive, and that they had to install it by first burning the image onto a physical DVD using Alcohol 110% with RMPS enabled.
And as a last resort, that is exactly what I did. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled off of my new DVD (following the same ASF procedures as listed previously), and ran the program. There was no possible chance of hell in it working. But it did. Even better, in my opinion, because if my HD gets wiped, i don't have to spend days torrenting it again.

Using modman is easy. Once you have installed it, run it. It should come up with a screen asking what you'd like to mod. Make sure it's on DCS and click apply. It will run through it's own scripts for a bit and make backups and what not.
When it's done with that, you will see a small screen that gives you a number of options to choose from. Click the top left button 'mods installer.'
Then near the very top of the window in roughly the middle, you will see 4 buttons. Click add. Browse to the RAR file that you downloaded. Click open. It will put that in the queue. Make sure it's selected, then go to the right side of the window and select 'Install!' It should install your stuff. And that should be it.

Ok,so this is absolutly not compatable with Windows Vista 32 or what?!?!Man,I did all that was said and I came to the cdkey input thing on russian version,clicked the 3rd ?????? thingy,screen froze and then my dual core 3ghz cpu shot to 100% then I got blue screen of death after 30 seconds.
Please somebody help us vista users play this awesome game?I installed asf drivers perfect and everything and also had my UAC SHIT turned off even installed with daemod tools 4.30.2 and had RMPS selected whilst it mounted and installed it.Any others have this working on vista perfectly yet?

@Anthony817: I have it runing on Windows Vista (Home Edition / 32) and the instructions I posted was exactly what I did (longer but making sure everyting works).
I always mount the image before playing (stored in a separate partition than the installed game) and it works for me but others had problems with that method and had to burn the image and use the "Burned CD" before playing.

Hi Anthony:
I use Nero for burning CD images and so far I have never had a problem (unlike Roxio).
Another thing you can try is to use PowerISO to mount the image and simulate a burned DVD. Just remember:
1. Always have Deamon Tools running with the mentioned settings.
2. Always have either a mounted image or a burned DVD (if you use a burned DVD, use it also for installation).
3. In Vista, don't activate the UAC until it's running fine.
4. Make sure you installed the AS Driver correctly and that you ran the "protet" tool un the game.

Well,I have Nero 8 full version,and also Daemon pro,but thought I neded RMPS enabled in Alcohol 120%,which I cant install for the life of me after uninstalling and aven deleating the sys keys.
I have burnt non protected games fine in Nero,but was afraid of waisting my expencive dvd9 dl discs without properly enabling rmps.
So I can positivly properly use my full nero 8 version without enabling a thing?
Also I have finaly figure out that I do have a dl drive,so All is good.

There is a crack for the russian version on gamecopyworld. this works also with the english version, but with problems: you can get into menues but can't start a game.
you have to copy the newinput.dll from the russian version and then you can load the game but cannot "unpause" to start.
thats what i found testing.

Now the install order is:
1)Install Russian version
2)Apply crack:

3)Delete the "rus1" folder under "l10n" folder.
4)Make cockpit English in the options.
5)Download english manual, watch "Producer's Notes".

7)PROFIT!
Now you'll be doing actually LESS than those who bought the game for real and you can go online without problems.

To get the training menu in English:
a. Go to BlackShark\Data\Scripts\Training
b. You should have 2 files there:
TrainingData.lua and TrainingData_ru.lua
c. Rename the TrainingData_ru.lua to something else (like "_TrainingData_ru.lua") or make another folder inside that one and move it there) so only the English file is in the folder.
d. That's it, training missions menu should be in English.
Ths mission files are in the \missions\trainings folder, just copy the files from the english version.

Anthony from what I understand you're having trouble installing it or burning it and installing it. If you're trying to burn you may be shit out of luck because of the protection. I'll repost the directions Emmer wrote on page 3 which worked for me, and have added in directions for getting weather generation in english.
1.Install the english version first.
2.Make a copy of the following folders: [Blackshark] [FUI] [l10n] [Missions] [Sounds], put them somewhere on your desktop.Easy to find again.
You need files from english BS install.
path is \Ka-50\bin\stable
lua.exe and all lua-*.dlls and these files need to copt & pasted into the bin/stable dir later.
3.Uninstall English BS Version
4.-Install Daemon Tools 4.3.1 Lite ONLY THIS VERSION.
-Right click on Daemon tools in the lower right, click on RPMS, daemon tools icon now changes from Red To green (or may not mine didn't).
-Install the Russian version.
-Mount the image, and this Autorun, install the game. Done... Fine...
-Copy the backupped Folders from your desktop into e.g.: C:\\Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\
-Overwrite existing folders
-Copy the lua.exe and lua.dll's to bin/stable and overwrite
**** NOTE: I don't believe that its necessary to use the starforce workaround outlined below if you use the cracked exe for the russian version. The starforce workaround did not work for me, but the russian version crack did.****
-Go to "C:\Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\bin\stable" click on the icon named protect, shape of a key on it, put a check in the box for Remove driver, and hit ok... a prompt in russian comes up, select the first button "??" which means "yes" you want to remove the driver... Done... fine...
-unzip your star force workaround in the Russian release folder zip file into a new folder.... so it's unzipped, wich it needs to be.. remember where this folder is, you will need to go into it and select .dev000.inf file when the time comes.
-Install the SF driver by these steps, not hard.... go to (Add New Hardware ---> Next ---> Yes, the device is already connected ---> Next ---> Come on in the bottom of the list, and choose the "Add a new device "---> Next ---> Installation of equipment from the list manually ---> Next ---> See all ---> Next ---> Have Disk -> Next ---> Add file dev000.inf.
Now that it's added, go into device mananger, system drivers, so see if it's there, it's will be "Fstarforce" driver, listed with all your other drivers, that's if you want to check.
RESTART THE PC AFTER THE SF DRIVER IS INSTALLED....
-When you get back to your desktop, UNMOUNT THE IMAGE , and mount the image once more.It should run the game.
-After that you van unmount the game and click the desktop icons to run the game. Conversly you can run the game from the DCS.exe in bin/stable
For english menu's, key commands and options, do this...
rename this directory
Program Files\1C\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\l10n\ru to ru1
If that doesn't work for you dude, then I guess your out o' luck.

Well thanks for the reply.I have no idea why the game worked in mp perfectly fine,save for not being able to change the window size or make it full screen and edit gfx options,since all that is done from the main sp launcher.
So let me get this straight,the FSF hack wouldn't work for you,but after just installing the crack all is good?
I have tried many methods,and eventually burned a dvd of the Russian game with Alcohol 120% in RPMS,so with it burned in RPMS mode there is no need to worry about that correct? I already have the said English files saved elsewhere on my PC.

Hey people, and why not do the reverse patch? The English release is 2gb, while the Russian is 4gb, and the 'translation' files 700mb. So I mean, if we overwrite the cracked bin/stable binaries from the Russian release over this torrent, all that will be needed is a 36mb patch.
I tried to just use the Trivium crack to do this. The loader runs fine, but when running the main game, it complains about NewInput.dll exports. So I'm thinking that if we substitute the other libraries the game may run fine.
Can anyone share these files in bin/stable? Anyway, I'm downloading the Russian version and will report if it works.

From a comparison, I found that using the hacked FStarforce driver the game loads much faster (but still takes a while) than the Trivium crack, that's why I provided the original files instead of just the Trivium ones. Also, the FStarforce method may become indispensable when the first game update is released.

Hey guys. So I have everything working, well mostly. I've used this patch, thank you btw, and there is no longer any Russian text in the game. However, when I start the game in singleplayer mode, the background is white, there are no labels for the menu buttons, and no information is displayed in mission briefings. When I go into multiplayer, everything is just fine though, it only happens in singleplayer mode. I've looked through the comments on this torrent and others and can't find any answers. Any thoughts?

Ok, nvm found a solution. It was a problem with ATI's graphics drivers. I have a Radeon x1950 Pro and all I did was rollback my drivers to ver 8.12. Everything works just fine now. Hope this info helps someone else.

Ok so this english version works fine but you have to do a few things in order to get around the copy protection. You need to download the KA-50_russion_bin file that is linked throughout these comments. Get the trivium crack from gamecopyworld (your after the russian crack version btw)
Step 1 install game
Step 2 copy the ka_50_russian files over the installed files.
Step 3 copy over crack
Step 4 - change the lines 13 and 14 of the input.lua file under \scripts\input to include -- at the start
Play Game.
There shouldn't be any reason for a serial key if you have done it right, also I have this running on a 64bit windows 7 rc release. If your unaware also, every mission the game starts paused and you have to select break to unpause.. Everything is in english except for the guys voice not to sure on that one yet..

SUCCESS!!! I got every single thing in english.
What i did was back up my russain bin folder and then completely uninstall the game, then install the english version and patch it to 1.0.1c and then put the russain 1.0.1c bin file and replace everything but the common, cosmos, and lua.dll files.
Even the sounds and starting picture is in complete english.

ok this is how to do it, first, download the russian version on dvd, which is mountable, then also download the english version, but you dont need to mount this one, download the russian 1.01c patch and the english one too. next install the russian version, install the russian patch, now copy the bin file and save it somewhere...uninstall the russian version, install the english version, and patch it to 1.01c, now copy back the russian bin folder. download the starforce driver and install it, now remember the russian version you had? mount it with daemon tools, i turned on all the rsmp discsafe etc and i ran the game, it never even asked for a cd key, no damn silly russian boxed, straight to the english version of the game and i am using windows 7....cheers!

Working sim on Win7 64bit, TrackIr, no driver hacks. Used Daemon Tools Lite 4.35.5 to mount Russian image.
The sim is amazing, I will buy it the moment ED removes StarForce, but I refuse to install DRM and activation-limit copies on my machine. If I pay for SW, I should not need anyone's permission to reinstall it after HW changes. ED evaluates new activation requests on a case-by-case basis, that is completely unacceptable to me. Remove DRM = +1 customer.
1. Install DCS Black Shark English version [this torrent].
2. Backup the following folders: [BlackShark], [FUI], [l10n], [Missions], [Sounds].
3. Uninstall DCS Black Shark English version.
4. Install DCS Black Shark Russian version.

5. Back up [Ka-50]/bin/stable just in case you need it later.
6. Install DCS Black Shark No-CD crack to bin/stable (from either one of the following links).


7. (Optional) Lanch Russian version of sim to confirm correct installation. Click on birds icon on left to launch some tutorial. If it starts, you're good to go.
8. Delete or rename the following directories in current Russian install: [BlackShark], [FUI], [l10n], [Missions], [Sounds].
9. Copy the english version directories from step 2 to replace directories removed in step 7.
10. Rename [Ka-50]/l10n/ru to [Ka-50]/l10n/ru1. This is important or your menus will remain Russian.
11. Create shortcut to [Ka-50]/bin/Launcher.exe, and set Start in directory to [Ka-50] (otherwise it won't find BlackShark directory by default).
12. All English sim, including menus, tutorials, sounds etc. Click icon to launch sim.
If you followed the steps you never get asked for CD key, and you don't need to install/uninstall StarForce. If you run 64bit OS, you cannot install anti-StarForce drivers (yet), therefore don't waste your time trying to apply patches.

For those who would purchase this game if it weren't for StarForce, I wrote the tech support for this sim asking about the DRM. It uses StarForce Proactive, which doesn't install any services or drivers and only runs to verify the activation when the program is launched. There is 8 activations allowed, another 10 if you deactivate first, and they replace serial numbers for owners that reached the limit if there's no indication they've been sharing it.
As anti-DRM as I am, I enjoy this sim enough that I am willing to pay the $40 to support the company that made it. I'd definitely recommend trying it out first, as it's a far cry from the arcade-style combat 98% of games are these days and definitely not for the typical gamer.
