To all rar haters... i suggest you to try 7-zip... google it, it's so easy to use and it can decompresses almost everything compressed. just suggesting... and you will see that unraring isn't that bad at all, right guys?

The obvious reason why you should not rar is that it's not necessary as it will not make the archive any smaller.
Other than that raring will force us to have one unrared archive and the original rar files to keep seeding, this will make many people remove the torrent and stop seeding.
Another good reason NOT TO RAR is that if say that the last seeder quits seeding and the leechers just have 99,8% we can still watch the movie at 99,8%. If it's rared the archive is useless.

I personally use .rar files and do not have a problem with them and haven't for years. The one bitch I do have about them is that it's easy to hide fake, passworded files inside of a.rar file. If utorreent shows a list of several.rar files it's rarely a problem, but if only one .rar file appears in the utoorent window, often inside of that is another .rar that is passworded. Other than that I don't know why anyone would bitch about . rar files

There are more reasons not to rar a file, than there are reasons to rar a file. So with that lets stop doing it, its like putting on a rubber when you dont need one. At the end of the day a rar'd file is the best way to go, particularly when the anti P2P folks send you one of those nasty letters. The burden of proof is on them to prove that you actually received all of the applicable files. Now..... how would I know about this?
