It's just an another quick way to check whether the key is real, not banned or else. Putting different keys into d2s archives and trying to log on to battle net causes temp bans and checking through their site - not.

@Lazystoner: no, the Original Key has xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx format and the Blizzard Torrent Key is different so it would be just a little bit harder to download a copy to register it with a keygen, so you're probably looking for a normal D2 expansion disc copy.
