Including two DVDs: DVD1: The Acer Upgrade Kit V1 0 3009 for Windows Vista: this DVD will upgrade your Bios to its latest release with Vista compatibility & your Acer PC's Driver for Vista, just in three steps. Q: Why does Acer Upgrade Wizard require 1 0 GB free space in system partition for a Windows upgrade? A: Since Windows Vista installation itself needs more than 5GB of free space in system partition, Microsoft recommends 5~10GB of free space in system partition to ensure your computer working smoothly during and after a Windows Upgrade. Q: What¡¦s the risk of a BIOS update? A: If a power failure occurs during BIOS update is taking place, the computer may run into a crash and unable to boot anymore. As a result, please make sure the system is always connected to AC power supply during the process. Q: Why some Acer applications are not supported after I upgrade my computer to Windows Vista?? Windows Vista is a brand-new operating system that brings us many innovative and powerful features. As a leading computer manufacturer, Acer always devotes itself to deliver new technologies to our customers. For some features that were delivered by Acer and now are replaceable by Windows built-in functions, Acer decides not to port them to support Windows Vista so that we can focus on more advanced technologies. Below is a summary of Acer applications that do not support upgrading to Windows Vista. Application name New version reinstalled on Windows Vista?? Acer eRecovery Management No. The new version of Acer eRecovery Management, which is compatible with Windows Vista?, requires repartitioning your hard disc drive and thus will cause data loss. As a result, the Wizard will not re-install the new version of eRecovery on you computer under Windows Vista?. However, you will be able to find the similar features in the built-in Backup Utility of Windows Vista, including full system volume backup to a HDD or CD/DVD. Acer eAcoustics Management No. Windows Vista supports similar functions of eAcoustic, and therefore Acer will no longer provide this utility for Windows Vista. Acer ePresentation Management No. Windows Vista allows you to easily manage your external monitor settings via Mobility Center . As a result, we do not support any upgrade of Acer ePresentation Management. Acer ePower Management No for partial models. In case your system crashes during Windows upgrade or you would like to rollback to Windows® XP after a successful upgrade, you will be able to boot your system with the CD/DVD and restore your system to the state right before the backup gets started. Otherwise, if you backup your system to another disc driver other than CD/DVD, you will have to restore your system to Windows XP Q: There are at most three backup tools appearing on the Acer Upgrade Wizard. How should I choose from them? A: Each of the backup tools has its functional scope. For example, Acer eRecovery Management can backup and your whole system volume, whereas NTI Backup NOW! and Backup Utility for Windows can backup your individual data files and settings. I recommend you to use all of them to backup your system before upgrading it. At least, you are highly recommended to backup your full system volume to CD/DVD with Acer eRecovery Management. Q: Does Backup Utility for Windows have any limitation? A: Yes. If you want to backup your files with Backup Utility for Windows to a FAT32 hard disc drive, there is a limitation of 4GB for each backup output file. That is, you have to separate your files into two or more groups and backup each group one by one, if the total size of the files you want to backup exceeds 4GB. Yes, you may like to test it but it works with me on my 3620 Acer Laptop. :)
Burn DVD1 & DVD2 in to DVD discs, just put the DVD1 in to your DVD Drive and follow its three steps, that's all.

I have an Acer Aspire 9300, originally with Vista. But it crashed, so I had to buy Windows XP. I'd really like to upgrade to Vista again without spending another $300 for it.

From personal experience if you are running 2 sets of ram at 2 gigs each on a aspire 9300 do not update your bios to the 1.20 version as this will not boot.If you already have done so and are having this issue remove 1 of the sticks and it will boot.I would revert back to the 1.19 version and all will be fine again

everyone, remember that you must use the dvd decrypter file which is in \program\dvdecrypter or something like that, then burn the file to the dvd's and run them at boot or something like that and you then should have a bootable vista cd. GL with everyone's download =p ps mines is at 7.8 - 7.9 now....

1. Do nothing but Burn them in two 2 DVDs.
2. Insert DVD1 in to your DVD drive and finish STEP1 of it to update neccessary things.
3. Insert DVD2 to your DVD drive and boot to install from it.
Finish, enjoy. These DVDs are only for Acer PC/Laptop with Vista support/come togehther but you lost it.

my acer has a xp bios...i also want to upgrade but i'm afraid...because it says when upgrading was failed...your computer will shutdown permanently or will not reboot anymore..........

Unfortunately, this happened to my acer aspire T660, if you do not flash bios before upgrading you will kill your computer and will then have to install a new motherboard with processor and or new bios so it can boot again, unless you send it back to acer and have them re-install your operating system and bios.

acer Aspire 5720Z cannot be installed because the brand of the computer is new so you have to contact acer to purchase a acer OEM upgrade DVD.

I have virtually the same problem. Acer crashed, had a Dell Home Premium disc, installed it, it naturally used the Dell Product key that was already active on my other laptop. I have a Aspire 5050 (old) so Acer wouldn't hook me up with a new OEN disc. So if I had these files, i could overwrite the Dell version and use the Product Key on the bottom of my 5050 right?
