Background (Desktop) Pictures

Category:

Other/Pictures

Uploaded:

Description:

Some pictures that work well as a background. Collected from various sites such as NASA, National Geographic, See Before you Die, and various others. Another good website for backgrounds is InterfaceLift Compressed into a .zip so it's just one file. Google John's Background Switcher for a neat program that will change your background periodically. Enjoy. Current count is 115 pictures.

I'm probably going to be rehosting these weekly with updated content. I have also reorganized the pictures into separate folders so you can easily exclude some of them if you don't want them (An example being the picture of Colbert I put in for kicks).
Current folders are Human, Abstract, Space NASA, Ruins, Other, and Nature.
Human is mainly man made objects / cities.
Abstract is graphical abstract.
Space NASA is anything pulled off of NASA's Picture of the Day or Space-related
Ruins is any depiction of Ruins
Nature includes any scenic images (With or without some photoshopping)
Other includes anything else (Such as the aforementioned Stephen Colbert picture)
I may include a Screen saver I found on National Geographic's website that includes some of their PotD's (Would include a install readme)
Also considering packing an installation of John's Background Switcher into there for easy access to the program.
Will probably switch from a .ZIP to a simply directory-torrent upload (So you can pick and choose)
