I appreciate the effort, but for future reference. itunes, which most people use for ipods, do not sort by file name, the field they call "name" is a title field. I can't get your sorting to work in itunes, perhaps i don't know the software?

I kow how to fix it. Itunes seem to pict the TITLE field as the name field unless the title field is empty, then it picks the FILE name. So to easily fix it in windown. Use windows explorer, highlight a number of files (my PC seem to handle about 70 files), right click, properties, click summary tab. In the TITLE, it says "multiple values" click it so the field is empty and exit. Do this with all files (50 at a time), now when you import to itunes, itunes will pick the file name as the NAME fieled instead of the TITLE field (since it's empty).
