Bob & Doug is based on the hit Canadian cult classic The Great White North" (originally known as "Kanadian Korner") which coined the phrase ‘Eh?” and “hoser.” Bob & Doug takes place in the fictional town of Maple Lake, a typical suburban Canadian town, which lies across the river from a typical American city, JFK City and a few miles west of Toronto. Maple Lake is a pastoral, idyllic representation of a typical Canadian suburb. It’s what the Americans think Canada is like. Providing contrast to Maple Lake, JFK City, Maple Lake’s American neighbor city; is a hotbed of crime, porn, violence and other nefarious activity. In Maple Lake, when they’re not working on their garbage route or hanging out at home, Bob and Doug’s main hangout is the Skate N’ Bowl – a combination skating rink and bowling alley. There is also a little bar at the Skate ‘n Bowl where the guys can gather and have a beer.
