Please ignore the above comment, another vista problem with admin permission before opening the file.
I have changed the language numbers to 0 (English), however the game remains in Russian.

Actually the language change in General.opt which smart the real one mentioned works. However if you use Vista/Win7 you need to change the compatibility to Windows XP SP3 and also choose "run as administrator".

Thank you emirhasa your advice worked! Then I went and made the mistake of installing the newest patch and the serial number is now invalid :(
