do to whatever encoder he's using.

@ upx >> the network is using some sort of new transmitting code/sequence (according to someone on here last week). Therefore its not possible to make a smaller 350mb file.
I'm not a techie person so I can't explain it any better than that my friend. :)

This is 49 minutes long....I think that's why it's 550 MB.
This show must air with very short or few commercial interruptions.

Well, the show IS a little longer, and the commercial brakes are shorter, but not enough to add up to the increased file size.
EZTV is encoding this with more kbs (on VIDEO, not audio).
AND I guarantee that I can compress this file into a 350 MB size without much noticeable loss,
however - you might be right about new transmission protocols needing increased bandwidth (kbs), which would then require a second pass to compress any lower.
According to "MediaInfo" (google it and download for free from sourceforge - you'll love it) eztv has recently upgraded the writing application from "Transcode-1.0.5rc4" to "Transcode-1.0.6", but is using it on all shows.

To respond to Daniel, it's growing on me a bit. The acting from the lead girl isn't always the best. The show as a whole seems to lack a whole lot of depth right now but so far I've enjoyed it. It debuted with some of the worst opening numbers ever apparently... I mean, it's not the best but it is a lot better than a lot of the lameness that some networks are putting out right now.

this is 550 because these tv rippers finally realize nobody is putting files on CDRs anymore, so they don't need the 350/700MB filesizes.
