the problem is that Rome has been booring all through season one aswell.. this is one crappy ass job of the photagrafer and director, made real by way much money.. I am convinced that this would have been an great series if other persons where behind the most meaningfull spots of making this.
Too bad, i managed to get trough season 1, I really dont know if its worth seeing this season aswell...

Ok people the show wasn't canceled they just didnt ruin the show with filler episodes. that is a big reason i like it some much. No bs every episode is to the point. This is IMO hbos best show. Ilove Deadwood and Six feet Under. But I always catch myself watching this!

The show was not cancelled. It was made by HBO in conjunction with the BBC and was supposed to be the story of Lucius verenus and Titus pullo and their relationship during the turbulent period of Rome's history. The BBC refused to continue the series because it had done its job and told that story. The cost of making a series also did not warrant making further series. HBO considered this a cancellation because of US ways of making programmes. the BBC has a strict quality standard. The result is a series that did not jump the shark and is a work of art where every episode is legit part of a story.

ThePsydome: It jumped the shark when they compressed what was intended to have been three or four seasons of material into the final four episodes. The Vorenus and Pullo story from the BBC is a retcon.

Very informative (although its loosely based on history) i dont see how you can bash spartacus atleast its got some gore man and lots of it :D the biggest battle thats happened from what ive watched (in greece) didnt was a 30 second blur of unrecognizable soldiers( they could have done this for suspense or whatver they reason may be but cummon they coulda showed some throat slittin or even an initial charge ( maybe this was simply a budget cut due to the "effort" you say they put into other less important scenes

Idiots..do research before you comment about the shows production...there was never gonna be a third season!!!! Not about rome anyway..the third and fourth season WAS to be about egypt and marc anthony's marriage to cleopatra..the fifth was suppose to be about jesus..the reason they cancelled it was it cost too much to produce..and whilst ratings were good, they needed to be excellant if the show was to continue...it wasnt historically accurate anyways..caesar never had a son, and octavian (Emperor Augustis) wwas his adpopted son, not nephew..but cool as show anyway...tanks jose!!

Spartacus was cool but not exactly a historically accurate series.
Batiatus did not die when the gladiators escaped. Barca would have been over 100 years old going by their Beast of Carthage story. Carthage fell decades before Spartacus was even born. Spactacus was a huge guy, like Oenamaious size but bigger. Crassus didn't have a son that died in the war against Spartacus. etc...
Spartacus made the captured Roman soldiers fight each other during Crixus' funeral, he didn't risk any of his own men.
Crixus was crucified, not beheaded.
etc.. etc..
Still it was a pretty cool show. I liked them all except War of the Damned but that could be because they all had to die lol.
