if there is a vob file... it is the cd. it means that file is directly copied from a CD or DVD. that works on PS3. if you wanna compress. you gotta rip. if you wanna convert a vob to mp4 or avi. you first should rip if using a dvd ripper software.. this will convert it into avi format. i recommend MAGIC DVD RIPPER
then convert that to mp4 for ipod etc. i recommend "Xilisoft HD Video Converter"
