Just a warning to all though -
You may not want to rush this. This development crew that made STALKER has the reputation of producing shit (releasing beta material). Then it needs a patch. Then the patch screws up stuff and more patches are needed.
Basically, your game play experience can totally suck. So if you find the game running like crap, crashing, etc. then do this -
STOP
WAIT until another good patch is released.
TRY again.
IF it is still bad...repeat the process all over and wait.
Eventually they do get it right...lol
If I am correct, this development crew is really a rag tag bunch of amateurs that have did some pretty amazing stuff with the first STALKER. Hopefully they have learned and grown.

dont know if anyone else has this problem but after i played for two hours it crashes, no problem i thought, then i load last save and just before loading is over it turns black and i can see the point arrow, same thing happend to other saves except for autosave just after i leave the swamp, just to be met by the fucking gunner who nails ya ten times over. this happend to me two times, one with the russian and the english one.

You cant use any old save games when you apply a new patch so you have to start all over. To bad on a nice game. Fallout 3 is almost here so it´s good times for post-apocalypse fans.

If you haven't taken a trip down Chernobyl, then i would suggest you download this one. But honestly, just download S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. Not only is it cracked, but also, you'll probably get a better experience out of it. Only because i think Clear Sky has a lot of bugs.

Demos are mainly useless, the one for this was out so long ago that it doesnt reallr reflect the game at all. u have to buy anything to use it online anyway.

Although Vista does suffer from some issues such as freezing, crashing and other stuff that Microsoft should've been fixed it really isn't that bad :D I'm still using it...just because of the new features XP lacks. I've installed the game on 2 different computers exactly following the instruction and if I replace the bin folder I get the same missing xrAPI.ddl on both. If I merge the 2 bin folders it asks for a serial number. I'm not a noob and I've installed dozens of similar games with no problems. The first install was from a DVD I burned using PowerISO and the second install was on another machine using the PowerISO DVD emulator. I saw one other post with the same problem but most people seem to have gotten the game to install and are complaining about problems with it running. What am I doing wrong.

I found the answer to my problem on another torrent. You need Daemon Tool Pro to mount the mini image in order to get the game to work. The regular free Daemon Tools will not work. And be sure to merge the bin folders together so you don't get the .dll missing error. I guess I'm not as smart as I thought.

This doesn't work for me. I have Vista 32. Installing is fine (with the latest PowerIso), but after installing and patching and starting it as instructed, some protection system ask me for a CD-key to start the game.
Why did the uploader fail to mention that you can't play this without it...? Fucking waste of time.

The .daa powerISO format was a stroke of idiocy, but I converted it to .iso with powerISO and mounted it with daemon tools pro both easily found here on PB
This was released by one guy, he beat the fucktards at Reloaded, and theirs is only good for 1.5003

I'm on XP SP2, I mounted the .daa, installed it, applied patches 1.5.0.3 and 0.4, copied the bin folder to the install folder, mounted the .mds image file with Daemon Tools Pro, and started it up with the START.bat file after copying it to the install folder.
Installation went fine, I'll see if there's any bugs during gameplay and post them here.

Okay, I am a noob to torrenting and installing these things. So please bear with me.
I've followed the instructions all the way to "5. Mount stalker-mini image"
But this is where I get stuck. When I unzip the Clear Sky Mini Image, I get two files:
stalker_mini.mdf
and
stalker_mini.mds
Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I don't know how to proceed from here.
I do have PowerISO.

Ok "noob" skippy712, you are so much a "noob" (or maybe just ignorant) that you don't even read the other comments which would've solved your problem anyway. However all you need to do is go to www.daemon-tools.cc/ and download a version of Daemon Tools and then, using Daemon tools right click on the image at the lower left hand side ofyour computer where the taskbar is, and select virtual cd/dvd rom and then choose add scsi virtual drive (up to 4, which makes your somputer think you have that many more cd rom drives) and then, under virtual cd/dvd rom select a drive and choose mount, and then mount the mini image. and for other people just browse to the file that you downloaded and select the only one that will be shown, normally a .mdf/mds..or other supported image file. TO ALL OF YOU, READ PAST COMMENTS IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE AND YOU MAY FIND A SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM.. Sorry guys, just trying to tell you what you should already know, noob or not.

welldie1212 thanks but there's no need to be condescending. Actually *did* I looked over the other comments (in a couple clear sky torrent forums) and it seemed relatively unclear.
As I recall somewhere it sounded as if daemontools wasn't sufficient and that PowerISO was the only tool able to work with the .daa format.
My question specifically pertained to what to do with the mini-image files (since there are two of them), stalker_mini.mdf and stalker_mini.mds respectively.
When I right click either of them I do not receive the option to mount as I did with the first stalker ISO file that I had to mount in order to install the game.
These specific files have never been addressed in the forum to my knowledge. I am just trying to clarify. Pardon me for not knowing already.
