Ulviyya Rahimova LIVE 2010

Ulviyya Rahimova is a rising jazz talent coming out of Azerbaijan and is just now becoming well known outside of her native Baku. This album was recorded at the Baku Jazz Center in the spring of 2010. Ulviyya's influences come out of the large Soviet and post-Soviet jazz tradition. In Azerbaijan, the work of jazz pioneer Vagif Mustafazade, who combined traditional mugam music with jazz, has influenced all fllowing generations. Ulviyya works with well known regional musicians such as Rain Sultanov and winner of the 2009 Monstreux Jazz Festival, Isfar Sarabski.
