I tried to mount it with Daemon Tools but when i mounted it nothing showed up and the setup.exe did not work either. Nothing showed up. It did show that it was mounted in the J drive.

I think I've found the problem.. I have direct x10, so if I change the shader setting to anything other than static lighting or full enchanced lighting (DX10), then there will be the x ray 1.6 engine stopped working crash... so might have to wait for a patch that fixes this.

here is what to do:
Create a shortcut from the crack "xrEngine.exe" to the desktop.
After this go to desktop --> xrEngine -->click properties --> change the start in dir from "C:\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat\bin" to "C:\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Call of Pripyat\"
Start the game from the shortcut

This fucktards releases always have a problem this time its the crack,luckily an easy fix most likely just a case of finding a new crack,but honestly this guy just can not get it right.
Basically razor has done fuck all here as he didnt make the game just ripped it and provided a crack that for most people doesnt work.

Everything works
Just do the following.
Crack in both places,in "bin" folder and in "dedicated" folder(e.g. D/Program files/stalker call of pripyat/bin/dedicated),and then in your stalker folder e.g. D/program files/stalker call of pripyat.
When you have done this,start the game via Stalker-COP(e.g. D/Program files/stalker call of pripyat) NOT from the CRACK.aND IT ALL WORKS WELL.
My experience anyways.

Yes I have X-ray engine 1.6 has stopped working as well. It's on win7 and it worked perfectly the first time then broke down every time I tried to restart it. Hopefully there's a patch, or maybe if you reinstall and mess with the lights or something. I'd probably just buy it but it's not released in my country yet.

Are you sure it's this torrent? There was another torrent (with "highspeed" in name) that indeed had infected setup.exe, but luckly it's now removed from this tracker.

Thastfu's method still doesn't fix the graphics problem. Everytime you try and change them, It has the X-ray engine crash, until you delete the user.ltx file which resets them.

if it complains about fsgame.ltx missing, here's a way to fix it (works for me, and I think it should work for others aswell):
open up your notepad > type the following in there: start bin\xrengine > save this file as .bin file in your Game Directory (the name of it can be anything you wish, I named it start.bin)
then just run it, and it should be ok

5970 is a powerfull card however.

Not working for me. At first I got the fsgame.ltx error, which I tried using the .bin file to try and fix. Now when I try to start it up through the .bin, I get an XRay Engine bug reporter. Clicking "More" brings up this:

This game is amazing, the graphics are amazing, the storyline is amazing, the gameplay is amazing, just, wow... What a fucking great game. I found that installing a couple of mods that use there own user.ltx files and other .ltx files actually help make the game a little stabler. Also, if your crashing because of the user.ltx file start the setup on the cd and it will bypass that problem by launching the game.

Great game, finished it this week. Downloaded, installed, applied crack, absolutely no problems.
Although it does lack some of those finer things from the previous games, the major upgrade on the world itself and the A-Life is just awesome. Finally they added in unscripted random occurences that the modding team tried so hard to add to the previous games.
I did find this game a little to easy though, I mean, at first it was kinda tough but as you progress, its soooo easy to make money, and you can just get nimble to order you in the best shit in the game right at the start. Halfway through the game I had all the best gear, 2/3rd upgraded (cant upgrade the last 1/3rd till pripyat), playing on master mode, found it way too easy.
When you hit pripyat, the game gets even easier because its throws a 1 hit kill gauss rifle at you and because its so easy to make money you just buy infinite batteries for it, anything that gets in your way is dead 1 hit kill. Also the exoskeleton can be upgraded to let you run, which makes you now a running tank, instead of a walking tank like the other games.
Even though I did find it pretty easy and a pretty unbalenced, I still really enjoyed just exploring the zone. Hopefully a modding team will release another mod that ups the difficulty and balences out the game a bit more.

This game is always hard to get into right at the start, you're thrown into this world, not real objective, you're incredibly weak and have no idea what to do. First time I played ShoC, I was like, this game is stupid, the graphics are ugly, I keep fucking dying, I dont know what to do... I finally found a solution!
So, yeah basicly if the game doesn't start after you are completly sure you've copied the crack in bin, gamedir and dedicated. You need to EXIT fraps.
Now it will run, this was very frustrating, but at least I got it to work.

Yay, the English version! Already played through the Russian version with cheats and all (because I didn't know what the hell to do..) Going to play it through again, and hopefully actually understand what I played..
The game itself isn't that great at all, very comparable with the previous two in the series. Graphics are so-so, and the gameplay is a bit.. Sturdy, I guess. They did a better job at recreating the actual Chernobyl atmosphere this time though! And that atmosphere is the single reason why I play this game. Can't get enough of this setting, even though I have been in Chernobyl in real life already!
I wouldn't recommend this game for people who focus on graphics, but more for people who love the setting. There are way better games out there. 6/10. Thanks loads though, Razor1911!

whoever said the crack is working was right. it's not. I can't understand why this keeps crashing, i've tried the crack, i've tried the fixed image with acid to cloak my drives, still crashes, I've updated my OS, i've updated my graphics card, i've no fucking idea whats wrong.

Windows 7 Pirates, my solution for the fsgame.ltx problem is the following:
copy your fsgame.ltx from the pripyat's main folder to your desktop
open this file and at the end of the line
$app_data_root$ = true | false | - Call of Pripyat\
add "bin" just that it states:
$app_data_root$ = true | false | - Call of Pripyat\bin
Save these changes by pressing ctrl-s. Now copy the new desktop fsgame.LTX-file back to the pripyat main directory overwriting the previous not correct file.
Now you can run stalker from Stalker-COP.exe and it will surely work. So don't call me surely, but a thanks would be nice.
Enjoy and buy the game eventually.

I had the same problem with the engine failing. This is how I got it to work.
1. Install the game. During the prompt where you have to insert the CD-Key, do not inser a name.
2. Browse the to folder where the game stored user data. by default this is - Call of Pripyat (if you installed the game for all users, look under - Call of Pripyat\)
3. Delete everything inside this folder including subfolders and files (if any)
4. Now launch the game using Stalker-COP.exe located in the game?s installation directory

The has been alot of trouble with this user.ltx file.
When I start the Stalker-COP.exe file, it crashes. I found out why.
- Call of Pripyat
- is where the file is located. Alot of fixes include deleting this file before you start the game up, but this also sets the renderer to DX8 (Static Lighting). If I start the game, edit that setting to anything else, I won't be able to start the game again without deleting the user.ltx file. This will also clear all my other settings, including keybindings.
If I wanna keep the rest of the settings, I open my user.ltx file with any texteditor, locate the renderer command and delete it.
This will of course make the game use DX8 and look like shit, so if anyone found a way to run it in anything else than that, please tell me.

Quick resume on the x-ray engine error:
On some Windows 7 computers, you won't be able to start the game in anything but DX8 (Static Lighting).
This is why deleting user.ltx helps. When you start the game, it generates a config that uses Static Lighting.
The command for this is "renderer" in user.ltx. Change it to "renderer renderer_r1" and the game will boot all fine.

If the xrEngine was the crack, I copied it in every three places, bin folder, dedicated folder and the main stalker folder.
Then I tried to launch the game via Stalker-COP but instead of starting the game, it gave me next notification:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call Of Pripyat
No disc inserted.
Please insert the original "S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:Call Of Pripyat" CD/DVD.

ok for people having trouble with win7, with errors and everything, here is what I did and it made it run perfectly. Go into your program files where the game is installed at and the file named Stalker-COP right click is and go to properties, then go to compatibility at the top and at the bottom of that screen you will see a "run as admi" box, click that. Then what I did was I went into my documents to where a folder called "Stalker-Call of Pripyat" and deleted it. Finally you click the old file "Stalker-COP" and the game should run fine.

omg someone please help. i downloaded this and followed all the instructions untill it came to the serial code part. i didnt know what to do so i didnt click next immediately i pressed back or something then clicked on next. after it said the installation had completed and asked me if i wanted to launch stalker i clicked no. i then typed in STALKER into my windows searchbar to locate the place where i needed to place the crack and found only 2 things, one the torrent i had downloaded, and the other just one fle (i cant remember the exact name of it but its size was something like 1.1mb) i tryed re installing the game using the downloaded iso, but after it asked me for setup language, it prompted me to start STALKER, thus not fixing anything. i deleted the one file i thought to be responsible for this, and began downloading a new torrent. after that had downloaded and i had followed the setup instructions, i got EXACTLY THE SAME 'start stalker' PROMPT. i searched my computer to find the location of the new stalker files, and found fuck all. not even in a hidden folder. what the fuck is going on?? it aparently hasnt got ANY files , but it still thinks it doesnt need to go through setup, and asks for the correct disc to be inserted if you do try to run the game. anyone help me?? otherwise i wont be able to play this game AT ALL seeing as other stalker torrents dont work because of it :'(

I'll make all your lives much easier.
Forget about the crack, you can actually run the game without any problems by downloading a mini image for Virtual CD v10. Here's how:
1. Go to gamecopyworld.com and look up "STALKER"...then click on the second option: GameCopyWorld - S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat / Зов - NoCD No-CD No-DVD Trainers & Game Fixes
2. Up top in the "Index" click the second option (•S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat [MULTI5] No-DVD/Fixed Image)
3. Then click the blue square next to "File Archive [69KB]"
4. Choose a mirror and download wherever you'd like.
5. Open the .rar file, you'll find yet another .rar file within it. Open it as well.
6. Extract ONLY the VC4 Folder.
7. It has 2 files:
NS-SLKR_SR-poseden.000
NS-SLKR_SR-poseden.vc4
8. Highlight both files and drag them simultaneously into Virtual CD v10.
9. Last but not least, it is very important that you mount this mini image to your PHYSICAL drive, so that the PC thinks it's an actual CD.
10. Run the game with the ORIGINAL .exe file, NO CRACK NEEDED!
11. If you don't have Virtual CD 10 look it up and download from TPB.
Hope this solves your issues.

For those who still get crashes:
1) Go to the root folder and make a new text document. Write this in it: "start bin/xrEngine" without the quotes. Save the file as "start.cmd" and use this to launch the game from now on.
2) If you still get crashes, go to [hard drive letter here]/Users/Public/ and delete folder in there that has anything to do with STALKER Call of Pripyat.
After I did both of these, I tried launching with the STALKER-COP.exe and the xrEngine loaded up but didn't crash. However, the engine didn't do shit even after I left out of xfire. I loaded up the start.cmd and the game works perfectly now. This was all done on Windows Vista Home 32bit but I'm sure it should work for you all as well. Cheers.

I can make it start if I first remove the user file. But when I change graphics and try to start again, the problem is the same. Removing the user file, again, helps. But then the graphics are default again -__-

To avoid the crashing and bug when starting the game via Stalker-COP you have to delete all the files (except savedgames!!!!) from C-> users -> public->documents-stalker call of pripyat, everytime you are about to start the game and than adjust the settings again or it will look like shit. Theres no other way to avoid the bug. Sometimes it will take you few tryes to make it but thats the price we all have to pay for having it for free from torrents

You were right but I noticed the game is trying to save and define the setting you have it set to. From there I took a further look into document files as you mentioned. Made the change to write as supposed to read only then the game works with your settings and no quiting with errors this time. I assume your are on Win 7. Try that for those who had same issue, it works for me everytime.
Futher more please refer to @kaverdinho this guy has that other problem of starting the game up resolved.

The .iso is fine but the crack is faulty. Changing graphics settings causes the game to crash on next boot.

Now here's the problem. The steps are pretty easy. Download, Mount, Install, Copy crack. But the crack is outdated. And so is the crack from gamecopyworld. When you use that crack, some sort of Stalker cmd screed pops up and the game freezes. You have to open task manager and end the process. The game won't start. The game is running pretty crappy for me, I don't have to great of a computer, but I can play games like far cry 2 or fallout new vegas on medium settings just fine. Hey guys its working fine for me and im using the crack it came with.....
1. Make sure ya copy the crack to the (BIN) folder.
2. Do not try to start game with the crack....it will fail go back 1 to the main game dir and start the game with Stalker-COP.exe
Step 2 got me at first...lol. The crack is not the file you want to use as the running exe its just security .exe.
Again im using the crack that came with torrent and it is working fine!

I've done everything right, and I can run the game fine on high settings. Only problem is none of my games will save, so I haven't been able to play very far. In fact I haven't played at all! Anyone have a fix to this? I've tried searching around, but it seems like no one has had this problem. I'm pretty sure it's because it's a cracked version of the game, but I was hoping someone could give me an answer or at least a way to create a save file location for any of my game saves. From what I've read, the similar problems to mine had something to do with an appdata file or a savedgames file? Please help, someone!

I just installed this torrent and played for an hour. And the save game is working correctly (unlike the poster above).
I didn't have to download any other cracks or patches. Nor did I have to apply the crack before clicking finish in the setup. I'm running Win7 64bit. The only wrinkle was running the correct executable to start the game which is not the crack exe.
I don't know why people are having so many issues. I've also dl'ed and installed SoC without any hassles and ran fine.

I just install this without any hassles and it ran fine. The savegame function also works.
I had no need to install any other cracks/fixes. Nor did I have to crack before clicking finish during the setup. No idea why people are having so many issues. Maybe they are running 32bit windows or something like that.

2: Keep Clicking Through the installation Till You Get to setup complete ~ Launch S.T.A.L.K.E.R.~
(DO NOT LAUNCH OR DO ANYTHING, LEAVE THE WINDOW OPEN OR MINIMIZE)

3: Dowload Crack from this page.
In the Crackfix Razer1911 rar, extract (xrengine)
To the BIN folder AND the root directory folder C:/ProgramFiles (OR) C:/Program files x86
(No need to install FAH unless you want it)
(YOU DON'T NEED TO OPEN THE XRENGINE.exe)
just delete/overwrite the old one

4: GO Back to the Stalker-cop installation.
click Finish

MAKE SURE you DL and install all the hotfix files etc and especially the big updates. Check the comments section on at the botom for more help. I love this mod and any STALKER fan owes it to him/herself to try it.

Foreboder and soggy666 are both offering legitimate solutions to make the game work. Once it's done installing though, I believe the crack contained within this torrent will work. Just overwrite the xerengine fine in Stalker CoP/bin folder before you click "next" and or "finish and launch the game" right after the installer window completes. Put the crack in first.

This upload is not broken/flawed/infected etc etc. It's a small ass file that takes no time at all to download and even less to install. You do not have to crack the EXE before you hit finish or whatever.
Just mount the iso
install the game and don't enter any names or anything and just click next all the way until it begins.
when it is done un tick the the "launch now" button so it does NOT launch. Close the window.
You know have CoP installed but not cracked. Now we crack it.
Go to your virtual drive where the virtual STALKER CoP CD is by click on "my computer" and youll see your virtual drive. Right click and OPEN it.
Copy the contents of the folder called Razor (the guys who cracked this game) and then you can close that window.
Biw you right click on the desktop icon shortcut you made for CoP and click "Open file location".
Remember the file we copied from the Razor folder? Well, make sure it is in the new window we just opened and if it is not then click open the folder called "bin" and it will be there. Whichever one it is in (I cant remember at this time) that is where you paste your file we have copied and when you click yes to overwrite that is when you have cracked this game.

i found on win 7 i cant change to higher setting or it crashes.
plays wonderfully with misery 2.1.1 and misery armed mod to get more weapons.
i really think economics is screwed up though so i downloaded a trainer (google it) and you gotta start game, start trainer, set cash amount, load game.
really liking the game, but misery is too much pain in the ass when spending money on drugs and food so just trying to aid myself a bit.
enjoy the game it's a great, REALISTIC one in terms on human behavior. no bullshit skyrim stuff

I'd bought this game years ago and its still one of my favorites (the only game that the news of #2's cancellation made my heart skip a beat). But having no working dvd player at the moment, couldn't install it today. So decided to DL it from here.
The torrent was just fine and installed with no problems whatsoever. In the end you have to DL the crackfix Soggy666 mentions. Copy/replace it and you are set to go.
