Suddenly Paco was gone and a young guy nicknamed Tomatito took his place. "El Camaron de la Isla" became just "Camaron" (He later claimed it was the music label, he just wanted to drop "El" and keep "de la Isla"). He included electric guitars, drums, keyboards, sitar, you name it. Flamenco purists were shocked. Camaron took the album one step higher singing verses by Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. He was going to show no restrictions to his artistic sensibilities. Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster he didn't. In terms of innovation and influence, La Leyenda del Tiempo is to flamenco what The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper was to pop music. This is a masterpiece, the one album every flamenco lover should have. For when it comes to flamenco there is only one God and his name is Camaron.
