****BEWARE, SPOLIERS BELOW*****(NO ONE WILL READ THIS ANYWAY)
This... movie... it's breathtakingly awesome. In that it is suffocatingly stupid. It's the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" for a new generation. I literally could go LINE BY LINE, showing everything (literally EVERYTHING, sound design, script, wardrobe, script, shots, effects etc, to be the most horrible choice possible... OR THE WORK OF A DEMENTED GENIUS troll who has a love/hate mix of feels about the violent horror sub-genre and is ruthlessly skewering it with every choice.
Seriously, there were some moments, semi-freaky and not-quite-powerful, (noise the first guy makes... probably gave me the 2nd biggest CHILL in the whole movie... Kyle screaming and screaming and then not gets 1st prize, been there, wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, the one who gifted it my way... which is what makes me a better person than he) but really tho... what stand out FAR MORE are the WHAT THE EFF things they say and do, and many moments so hilarious, it becomes harder and harder to keep telling yourself they are unintentional. A couple favs are a deadpan "that looks fucked up" (it'll be hard to miss) the blonde one's Angry-Monkey breakdown in the bathtub scene... All through, there are these suspensions of time/reality, like when the mousey one after LOSING HER SHIT a few seconds before, is told by the group she needs a nap, agrees, walks 5 steps, lies down on a couch AND IS INSTANTLY ASLEEP. It's not a montage, fade, or anything, it's an unbroken shot, presented in real time (you can hear their footsteps) .. down, eyes closed, asleep. To dispel the thought that she might have just closed her eyes and wasn't asleep... they start talking about her... this is MAYBE 10 seconds after her head hit the couch and (in one of many 'what even a total twit would do/not do' moments she doesn't seem to notice the implied threat to her safety and lies down... The best is kyle. The whole thing from when he walks in barely looking rustled, having been abducted from a party by an unaided girl who THAT NIGHT had been raped with a broken beer bottle... To the end when they ENSURE that every female "it" ever encounters will be so much more horribly savaged, than otherwise... think of "nice" kyle... glass, stalking, forced groups... IMAGINE AFTER? It would make "that yellow bastard" from Sin City look like Mr Rogers.
"My dad is a cop in the neigh-bor-hood, torturous revenge for my man-li-hood... you will be mine... I swear you'll be mine... I will see you later"
Glaring also were several halfway decent setups for real moments to happen, like kyle's "sorry" sobbing that seems to anger them, then give them, even Kat, second thoughts briefly, (both her speeches about the "effect" are laughably silly, obviously written by someone with no idea what's it like to be raped, and sadly, actually demean the characters amazingly thoroughly), and then he (who would do this, hanging tied and freshly rage raped, just reduced to begging thru the gag for mercy) TELLS THEM ALL what will happen {to them, or maybe every woman he sees, or both} if he ever leaves the barn (which they allow) and again insults them... So they piss him off like 10000000 times more, DON'T kill him, which would SAVE countless lives and hours of women being tortured, AND be the more moral act, granting not only mercy to the undeserving (re-establishing a slight moral ground since, if you rape to punish rape you're a rapist too, and have therefore LOST the upper moral hand) but also following the harm principle by removing, instead of driving crazier then releasing, the monster.
The end?? It's a f*&^!ng genius piece of art. I literally can't even begin to describe the symphony of horrible sound effects, the UNOPENABLE door right after the UNCUTTABLE chain.... THE GUN... Really?!??!?!?!?
People, if you're really into "B-" horror... This really is a rape-revenge version of "Plan 9...", shot by the crew of a Mexican soap opera, scored by a deaf mute, and written by people who seem to think the biggest tragedy about rape is that i
