First of all, the film is in colour. Second, any film, no matter how old, can be in high-res, simply because filmstock (you know, the stuff they use to actually shoot a film on and project it in a theater) has a much higher resolution than any HD available for consumers (i.e. Blu-Ray or HD-DVD).
