thank you. this upload seems like what i'm looking for. i've got an HP laptop (product name dv6700; model name dv6915ee).i've already created 3 partitions apart from the 'c' and 'd' (hp recovery) partitions that were already there. i've heard the vista boot manager will get overwritten and i won't be able to boot vista if i install xp. is there a foolproof, sure-fire work-around?
please help me with installing microxp 0.82. many thanks in advance. keep up the good work.

just insert the cd @ startformat the complete harddrive
for example iff u have a 250GiG like me
make like a 160GiG C: partition and a 80 gig D: partition and install it on C:
the partition making can be done from of the cd
hope this helps

the idea is to install microxp along with the already installed vista and dual-boot.my drives are: 'c' (running vista sp1), 'd' (hp recovery), 'e' (dvd-rw), 'f' (formatted blank), 'g' (formatted blank) and 'h' (formatted blank). i can install xp on 'f', 'g' or 'h'.
now, how do i make sure i can boot into xp as well as vista?

not sure about that i managed 2 do it once but not tested it yet with microxpwat i did was installed on a clean one then only xp would boot and vista didnt wanne boot anymore
i installed vistabootpro and messed around a bit
then it was working and i could dual boot
i dont now exactly wat i did tho

"i've already created 3 partitions apart from the 'c' and 'd' (hp recovery) partitions that were already there. i've heard the vista boot manager will get overwritten and i won't be able to boot vista if i install xp. is there a foolproof, sure-fire work-around?"Download a full Vista version and burn on CD.
Boot the CD.
Then select language ++.
Press next.
There, press "repair" instead of "Install now"
And then next.
Then finish.
Now it will boot up Vista. Then download EasyBCD, then you will get a question of what OS you want to start everytime you start the computer.
Good luck.
