Silent Hill 1 (PC).zip

This is the great SILENT HILL 1 for PC! It's a "must have" for true fans! Just unzip the downloaded file and run autorun.exe to install the game. Silent Hill should run fine on most systems. As you know, the first Silent Hill was not officially released for PC. So this version is based on PlayStation-CD image and a PS-emulator. Glitches and crashes could be fixed by manually configuring the emulator (i.e. you should go to the folder you installed SH into, run epsxe.exe from there, re-configure video/sound etc. and run .iso file from the File menu of ePSXe). If you have problems downloading/installing/configuring/running - please write comments here. I'll try to help you.

Yes, you can!
1) Go to the SH folder (default x:\Program Files\Silent Hill\) and run ePSXe.exe from there.
2) Choose "Config"->"Video" in the pull-down menu.
3) Press "Configure" button.
4) Choose "Fullscreen mode" at the window's top.
5) Press Okays :)
6) then go to the "File"->"Run ISO" menu and run data.iso.
Everything should work fine!

As far as I understand you un-zipped the file "Silent Hill 1 (PC).zip" successfully and received the error message during installation process?
This is a common issue. I encountered it too.
Just click "Skip ... " and the installation process will resume. Wait until it comes to an end.
The game should work!!!

Upd.:
The button is either "Skip", or "Skip file", or "Ignore", "Resume", "Continue" etc.
I don't remember exactly :) Main point is that the button makes the installation process to resume in spite of the error.

Hi 23Reaper07,
1) run the launcher, drop down all quality settings, and then restore them one by one. For example, I had problems with "Screen smoothing" turned on.
2) run ePSXe.exe manually (see my comment above, 2008-11-05) and try to configure the game from there. It could be boring... but many problems can be fixed there. First, lower all the settings to the most compatibility. Then, if the game runs Ok, start raising the settings.

Thanks for the torrent, easy install, good download time.
One problem though, when I run the program through either the packaged setup or straight through ePSXe, I get an error message that says ePSXe has crashed and I get booted from the program entirely. I've been searching for a solution as I've had this problem with another download of the same package but so far I've got nothin.
Dunno if youve been around lately, but any help is appreciated.

Unfortunately, there could be many causes of your crash :( For example I had constant crashes at the program's start caused by several graphic settings.
Try to experiment with audio or - most likely - graphic subsystem of the game.
Also it could be helpful for us to advise if you write here what exactly your error message says.

hello it is just to say that everytime i try to click play all i get is a black screenand about a minute later i get an error message saying the the emulator has encounterd a problem and has to shut down i have put all the graphics down to there lowest setting and still i get the error message its probably a stupid mistake i am makeing but a little help would be appecated thank you

Hey im having a problem that irritating me, i was wondering if you could help me, see after i install the game i click the desktop shortcut to play it and the screen pops up were it says "play, settings, controls, etc" well after that i click play and it brings up the screen but as soon as it brings up the screen it goes dark and i return to my deskrop screen were there is a window that says "AutoPlay Application has encountered a problem and needs to close" and it gives me the buttons to either Debug, Send Error Report and Don't Send i clicked dont send the first time and i went back to the game problem is once i maximise the game screen to play it, but there is no game its only a dark screen, but i can hear the game clearly. i dont know whats going on but if you do, can you help me out please

i cant seem to save for some reason. If i try and use the quick save it does nothing and if i save in the game it just freezes.

for those who are having problems with startng the game,follow these steps.
1)unzip or extract the files
2)unzip the data file,that contains the iso file
3)install the game from the silent hill application,(ignore any error you get while installing)
4)put the iso file in the installed directory and then open the iso file with daemon tool
5)in it will contain 4 files
6)copy these files and paste them in the installed directory
7)now start the game and play
now you will have no problem passing through the start menu
p.s in order to quick save,press f1,to select load file press f2 and then press f3 to load

When I install the game with the silenthill.exe I get a decompression error and I can either abort, retry or ignore. If I ignore, the exe starts preforming set up actions and it then stop responding. Help me out please!

For Windows 7 users:
To get this game running,
Make a folder anywhere on your computer except "Program Filesx86" and move the "Silent Hill 1 (PC).zip" file to there.
Right click the .zip file and "extract here"
Install:
As far as I can tell, installing from either the "Silent Hill.exe" file or "autorun.exe" files does not matter. HOWEVER. Whichever file you install from must first be "right click" and "troubleshoot compatability."
By default the files will be set to compatability "Windows XP Service Pack 2."
Run the install as administrator. An error will come up about a compressing error, ignore it.
When the install gets to registering fonts, it will freeze. CTRL ALT DELETE and close out of the install.
Go back to your folder and extract the data file. Name the new data file "data.iso" and cut and paste it to Program Filesx86/Silent Hill
Run ePSXe.exe and "File, Run ISO."
Select data.iso and the game should run fine.

Hi! First of all thank you so much for your upload, and any help you may have had in packing this together with an emulator so it makes for an easy "port" to PC! I was able to get the game to work, quite easily, by following the instructions "blazingotaku" wrote on pg2 of the comments. However, no matter how much I seem to fiddle with the config settings I cannot game the game to look the way I want. If I make things higher the game won't play, so this may be the best I can get it o look but I figured it was worth asking. The issue I am having is that anything moving ie. the character has an appearance that he is constantly "buffering". This is not as apparent while running, but when he is looking for something in a room, or even just standing, it is awful looking. It gives him the appearance of "moving" ie his face, hair, everything distorts and stretches, kinda like one of those camera apps for your phone, and you can turn your face into water. Anyway, didn't know which setting would be best for this. I am still playing as is, but this effect happens to everything I see for a second, but moving things it never stops "buffering" (I am using that as an adjective, I know it isn't really buffering lol). For now I will keep my struggles to getting used to only having one joystick, and leave the fine tuning to someone who knows what they are doing. If you need to know I have a 32" 1360x768 LED display, 4gb RAM, and AMD Radeon HD 6670, I can play games such as Skyrim and Bioshock Infinite at the highest settings without a problem.
